Effect Of Land-Use Changes On Landscape Fragmentation: The Case Of Ramallah Area In Central Palestine

The urban sprawl of cities periphery is one such changes that has led to drastic land-use changes, which resulted in landscape fragmentation. objective this study understand the process fragmentation because expansion; identifying most influential drivers have changed land-use. To achieve objectives due land use, a had conducted Ramallah area Palestine. utilized Fragstat software quantify with regard its pattern and structure through number indices, also using Geographic Information System tool draw up different parcels spatially characteristics. spatial analysis carried out on change used 1997 2017 aerial photos fragmentation, included variety land-uses. Over 52% underwent noticeable urbanization process, resulting appreciable area, especially after 1993. statistical revealed significant during period from 2017; green been fragmented at large scale by increasing patches (from 71 148 patches). As result, there was an obvious reduction agricultural lands, as olive groves grassland. At same time, surface areas increased 654 2019 2017. These results indicate become more geopolitical socio-economic since mid-1995 Oslo accord.
